Whitmore Lake Varsity Volleyball Invitational

8:00am 


 

Tournament:  Play starts at 8:00am.  Two pools (A and B) are at Whitmore Lake High School (7430 Whitmore Lake Rd.), two pools (C and D) are at Whitmore Lake Middle School (8877 Main St.)  The gym will open at 7:00am. Please use the rear student entrances at both buildings.

 

Coach’s meeting:   7:40 am in each building (not mandatory) 

 

Fee:  $175, payable to Whitmore Lake

 

Admission:  $5.00, no passes accepted (kids under 5 free.)

 

Concession Stand:  In the high school only will be open for breakfast and lunch.  No middle school concessions.

 

Scorekeepers & line judges:  Teams need to provide scorekeepers and line judges based on the play schedule.  Teams will have to score and line playoff matches as well. Losers may have to stay to ref.

 

Trophies:  1st and 2nd place trophies plus 1st Place Team medals.

 

Team Areas:  Please use the tables provided in the cafeteria to store team belongings and to eat.  There is no food or drink other than water in the gym. Please be sure to clean up your area before leaving.  Please use the recycling bins for plastic bottles.

 

Tournament Play:  There 16 teams in 4 pools.  We will do round robin play in each pool:  2 games to 25 rally score with a 27 point cap. Teams listed first will serve first in pool and playoffs.  Note that Pool A and B are in the high school, Pool C and Pool D are in the middle school. The 1st place teams in each pool move to the Gold Bracket and 2nd place teams in each pool move to the Silver Bracket, all to be played in the high school gym.  The 3rd and 4th place teams will do a crossover match in their respective gym.  The teams in pool C and D will then be done for the day. The losers of the crossover match in Pool A and B will have to stay to ref the next match.  All playoff matches will be a best 2 of 3 match rally score to 25, 25, 15 points with no cap. After the consolation round of playoffs, all playoffs will be in the high school, thus teams advancing from the middle school will have to move to the high school.  

 

Warm-Up:  First round warm-up will be 10 minutes (2-4-4) for each team prior to their first match only.  There will be no other warm up throughout the day. Balls will be provided. There is no ball handling in the hallways or cafeteria.

In case of any team cancellation, a 3 team pool play will be in effect:  3 games to 25, with a 27 point cap.
