Ground game too much for Lutheran Westland

The football team traveled to Lutheran Westland for their second MIAC game of the season. The Trojan ground game controlled the evening totaling over 400 yards in the 44-13 win.
1st quarter - Lutheran Westland struck first capping off a 5-minute drive making the score 7-0. Our boys were quick to respond with a 53 yard run and score from Cole Henning. A converted 2-point conversion by Logan Kurth made the score 8-7.
2nd quarter - To start the 2nd quarter, freshman Isaac Brady picked off his second pass of the season. 6 plays later, Henning took another one to the house bring to the score to 16-7. To end the half, we forced a punt and capped off a long drive with another Henning score (his 3rd of the night). Evan Vaughan added a 2-point conversion. The halftime score was 24-7.
3rd quarter - Vaughan scores from short yardage. A Cole Henning PAT makes the score 31-7.
4th quarter - A Vaughan interception (4th of the season) midway through the quarter led to a short-yardage score from Michael Warner. A Henning PAT makes the score 44-13.
A few other highlights:
1. The offensive and defensive lines were dominant
2. The offense was very impressive running for over 400 yards
- Cole Henning: 7 carries for 128 yards (2 TD)
- Evan Romeo: 12 carries for 120 yards (TD)
- Logan Kurth: 11 carries for 114 yards (TD)
Next week, the boys are home (finally) and will take on Parkway Christian. 7:00 PM kick.
